New Year, New You?

So, here we are on New Year’s Eve Eve, having survived Christmas. I look forward to New Year’s Eve more than I do Christmas. I think, because traditionally Christmas was spent with family, and New Year’s Eve with friends. Time to let your hair down. So, this year, I am attending a New Year’s Party at a club, which means dress up time, black tie for the guys, and treating myself to a new dress.

I am attending the party with a swinging friend, it will be the first time we have gone to a club together, (although we both are experienced swingers and both attended clubs before) or met with anyone else whilst we’re together. So, whilst I am looking forward to it, I do have reservations. Swinging at a club, is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you’re going to get, especially when you are going with someone new.

We have met quite a few times, including vanilla meets, and have struck up a close friendship. The decision of going to a club together has opened up the conversation of what we like, what works for us both just the two of us, and in a group setting. Which has been really interesting, and enlightening.

We have discussed on what would work for us in a club, ie, big play room, or a smaller room, group play, or individual play, male, or female, this has lead to a better understanding of each other.

Still, there is apprehension, as there usually is, even when you’re in an established relationship. You can only do so much talking, and planning, but at some point, you have to take the plunge and trust in your instincts, that this other person will do right by you. Go with a relaxed attitude, no expectations, and there is nothing to say you can’t have a bit of play time just the two of you to re-connect, whilst at the club. Communication is key.

I am looking forward to trying new things in the New Year, expanding my horizons, and making new friends. My main focus is to try and be braver, which I hope will come with confidence, we all have insecurities to overcome. Which are a continuous battle, but the lifestyle has helped me massively, it has definitely empowered me, in all aspects of my life.

This year has been a rollercoaster for me, down at the bottom at the beginning of the year, suffering from depression, and in a difficult place emotionally due to personal circumstances, gradually growing in confidence. throughout the year, with support, and achieving goals, both in my personal life and in the lifestyle.

Doing the podcast, and writing a blog, has been a massive achievement for me also, for which I am grateful. I have a lovely guardian angel, to whom I shall always be indebted to.

I want to thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope it does help some of you. I am always here to listen, no judgement, and forever happy to help. Have a very Happy, Healthy, New Year, may the Goddess of Swinging shine her light on you. Be safe, and have fun. Lots of love. G xx
